A few years later my friend Pat, the same friend who passed along this sad depressing news to me told me that he came out of the closet. Not to be dismayed, I thought I could be the one to bring him back. Years later I realised that it wasn't gonna happen, but it didn't stop me loving him still....
So today, my dear friend told me he passed away. He went to sleep and just didn't wake up again. I've attached the newspaper article below.
Stephen Gately, I still love you. I'm just sad I'll never be able to attend a Boyzone concert.
I'm playing Boyzone's album over and over again right now.

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately dead at 33
October 11, 2009 - 4:55PM
Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died while holidaying on the Spanish island of Majorca.
The British group's tour website said the 33-year-old had "tragically died" and that the other four members of the band would fly out to Majorca on Sunday.
It said Gately had been on holiday with his long-term partner Andy Cowles when he died on Saturday.
Boyzone, which announced their comeback tour last November had six UK number one hits between 1994 and 2000.
News of the World's showbusiness editor Dan Wootton told Sky News UK that Gately had gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and gone to sleep, but never woke up.
"This is obviously incredibly tragic news and very unexpected," he said.
A spokesman for Boyzone has confirmed the death but details are yet to emerge.
News Radio Boyzone manager Louis Walsh told the newspaper: "We're all absolutely devastated."
"I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.
Gately revealed that he was gay in June 1999 and later married Cowles in a civil union in 2006, Sky News UK said.
After Boyzone split Gately continued his career as a solo artist, but was dropped by Polydor in 2001 after three Top 20 singles.
He enjoyed further success performing in musicals, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2003-04.
