An accomplishment

Has anybody heard of Broomball??? I certainly hadn't until this long weekend. As part of the mini-convention Penrith Stake organised a Broomball game. So the YSAs got the ice rink all to ourselves. We then geared up ... Helmets, elbow guard, shin pads, special shoes (with foam on the bottom so you can walk normally on ice) and finally we were armed with brooms... hence broomball I guess...

6 players on each team, and it's basically ice hockey, but with balls the size of a small basketball (size somewhere in between a baskeball and a tennis ball). You can basically hit the ball with your broomstick, or kick the ball. But to score points you need to hit the ball into the net with the broom. Our team rocked! We were the undefeated champions... Our team consisted of, Sarah-Jane, Nathan., Lincoln, Wade, Brett and myself. We were so totally scoring goals and even the Broomball professionals were telling us we were too good, and he ended up taking Lincoln and putting him on the other team.... What a traitor. We still won anyway... :P

All I can say is, I wasn't used to the muscles being used for Broomball, my thighs and gluteus are killing me all day today. I found it so hard to move my legs, and had to resort to using my hands to lift my legs up.... Gosh I feel old sometimes. I think I will be sore all this week... well at least I used my muscles.

Our team totally thrashing the other team... Much like Manly thrashing the Storms...

Me in Broomball gear, after learning that sliding on shin pads is sooo much fun

I'm so ready to take on the world with broomball

Don't want to mess with this guy...

One thing I learnt this weekend, sometimes chilli does weird things to people's heads, especially their memories. It can make them forget about birthdays and anniversaries. I hope there are some scientific evidence for this, and that it is not just an excuse :P

So what is my major accomplishment this week... As part of a family event (I guess it can be part of Family Home Evening), we completed the 748 piece puzzle. I have to say this has been an on-going effort. Pretty much had to bribe friends with dinners and desserts to help me complete this puzzle. The best thing is.... there were no missing last piece :)

Can't wait for the next set of adventure puzzle :) Overall this has been an amazing and fun weekend. Brought me much joy and happiness.

Yeah, we play it here all the time for FHE-type activities. :) But I prefer the real thing, which skates and a hockey stick. Now THAT's what I cal an FHE activity. :D
