Spider in my food

Last weekend, I went to Jacob's nephew (Thomas) 1st birthday dinner. It was at Maurizio's at Wetherill Park. The entree which was garlic bread and bruschetta was ok, not great but ok. The mains were relatively pricey for where it is and also for the portion that it came in.

Anyway Jacob ordered a Pan Franco (some chicken meal with lemon sace and avocados) and I ordered a grilled Salmon.

The food came out fairly quick. The taste was hmmm somewhat questionable.

Jacob's meal... the sauce that came with the chicken was SOOOOOO Sweet.... it was suppose to be some lemon butter thing, but the sweetness made it taste gross. Then there was the half avocado on the side. My goodness, either the avocado was really really off, or they bathed/soaked it in lemon juice for months. The avocado no longer tasted like avocado but an acidic lemon instead. It seemed like the restaurant was trying to hide the faultiness of the food by masking it with strong (but foul) tasting sauces.

My meal.... hmmmm... where do I start. There was a nice prawn on my salmon. Looked nice, tasted nice too. Then there was the salmon. The salmon was cooked nicely as well. The salmon was sitting on top of the garden salad. I ate a bit of the salmon, and then some salad. As I put the fork in my salad, I noticed a little spider crawling out of the salad under the salmon. I freaked out, but luckily I didn't scream. I ended up just telling Jacob gently that there was a spider that just crawled out of my salad. He looked at me and I pointed the salad out to him.

We proceeded to tell the waitress about the spider and showed her as it sat nicely against my white plate. She goes "ok" and took my meal back to the kitchen. They brought out my meal again in about 2 mins. They gave me a new prawn which sat nicely on the salmon. I ate the prawn and realised they had given the same salmon back to me as I had taken a bite out of it previously. This made me wonder whether they had just given me the same salad but just got rid of the spider.

This time I made a complaint to the owner... she was apologetic and said she will tell the kitchen to bring us a brand new meal. So by the time everyone finished their dinner I was on my 1st/3rd meal. New prawn, new salmon and new salad.... but by the time the meal came, I was struggling to eat my food. Possibly the thought of another spider crawling out scared me to death. The reason the owner gave for the spider was... ohhh it is really hot today. So if we had come back during the colder climates, spiders wouldn't be crawling out of their food.

So after a crappy service, crappy food... I put my foot down and said to Jacob "We're never going back there again!"
