The Pleasures of Fine Dining

We decided to go out on Tuesday night, it was a nice night, I've kinda started full time job, own my own automobile, paying for insurance and health insurance... basically becoming an adult finally, etc etc... So we decided to celebrate.

We went to a really nice restaurant called Quay. Voted "Best Restaurant in 2008", three hatter, which is basically Sydney's version of the Michellin awards.... Anyway really nice restaurant with an excellent and very exquisite menu. You so should go there if you ever get a chance... my next saving up for culiminary excellence would have to be Tetsuyas.

I didn't take any pictures of the food, because I thought it might be a little too touristy, and it wouldn't have done it any justice what so ever...

We had the 4 course a-le carte menu

We shared little bits of our food which meant we tasted 9 different courses all together.. I know very impressive

We had a started dish,,, it was tuna, some sour cream creation and little jelly things... absolutely delightful and definitely opened up our taste buds... They also had 3 absolutely yummy sourdough breads to choose from... ohhh yum...

So entree number 1
Mud crab congee, hand shelled mud crab, Chinese inspired split rice porridge
&
Sashimi of Blue Fin toro, Spanish mackerel, Yellow fin loin, Hiramasa kingfish, horseradish cream, baby radish, green almonds, white tea and seaweed jelly

Entree Number 2
Confit, of shaved South Australian squid, octopus coral, garlic custard, baby radishes, native violets, roasted squid consomme
&
Slow cooked quail breasts, white lentils, farro, morels, walnuts, garlic buds, spring onions, truffle cream, milk skin

Main
Eight hours slow braised milk fed Suffolk lamb, baby carrots, Arbequina olives, nasturtiums, capers, calendula, sheeps milk fromage, coriander flowers
&
Poached breast of squab (which I found out was handraised pigeons), preserved cherries, beetroot, bitter chocolate black pudding, pastilla

Dessert
Raspberries, violet, almond, vanilla cream
&
Eight texture chocolate cake, featuring Amedi 'Chuao' chocolate

After which we had Petits Four (white chocolate & this chocolate caramel sticks) and my Peppermint tea

It was a delightful meal, I walked away absolutely fulfiled.
Excellent company, gorgeous views, gastronomical meal, wonderful conversation... ohhh the list goes on. I'm so grateful for the experience of an absolutely magical night.

At the Rocks, excited about going to Quay for dinner

The view from where we sat

Bright background not good for faceshots....

The restaurant

I'm way excited, and can't wait till the food are served!

Sounds really really yummy. I agree with Emily that when I get there I'll have to visit the Quay but I will make sure to take plenty of photos and be as touristy as I can. Hehehe.
